Deskins became the new Mingo County Family Court judge Wednesday.The governor, well known for delaying gubernatorial appointments, took only hours to select Deskins after she was recommended by the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission. Perhaps the speed of the appointment was increased by the fact that, for the first time ever, the commission recommended Deskins over their other two nominees, saying she was “eminently qualified.”
