Belfry wins 60th District Tourney over PCC Hawks Kyle Lovern

GOODY, KY. - For the 7 th straight year, the Belfry Pirates baseball team won the 60 th District tournament.
The Pirates defeated local rival Pike County Central 4-1 on Wednesday evening at the Belfry sports complex.
The two teams split their regular season matchups, but Pike Central was the No. 1 seed, therefore the home team, even though the game was played at Belfry’s field.

Shrine car show; WVU hoops and Hall of Fame The Tug Valley Shrine Club will hold its annual car, truck and motorcycle show on Saturday, June 1 on Second Avenue in downtown Williamson. The show starts at 9 a.m. and goes to 12 noon.
The registration fee is $15 and trophies will be awarded. All of the proceeds go to the Tug Valley Shrine Club.

My how time flies by. Sort of like Rod Varney flew by the competition back in the early 1960s as a quarterback and sprinter for the Belfry Pirates.
Fast forward 49 years later, to when Varney graduated from Belfry to his last days as principal at his alma mater.
