MATEWAN - A local musician had a little help from his friends at a party to launch his first album.
Josh Addair, a Matewan native, has released his first album, Country to the Bone.
“I’ve been singing since I was 12 years old, but it feels like a little while,” Josh said, sitting among his family and friends at he album launch, held at the train depot replica in Matewan.
There to help him, and sing a few songs, were Josh’s friends Logan Hall and Tylyn Combs. Hall and Combs met Josh when they were selected to sing for a showcase held in conjunction with Country Music Highway Road to Fame contest.
The three became friends during the showcase, Josh was not eligible for the contest, as he is not a native of Eastern Kentucky. Both Hall and Combs went to the final ten in the contest, and Hall ultimately won.
“I know how to pick my friends,” Josh told the audience before the trio sang to those there to support Josh.
Josh wrote all ten songs on the album, which include the single “Daddy’s Home (The Big Branch Mine Song)” and “Small Town Rebel.”
”As far as inspiration goes, each song kinda has its very own story behind it,” Josh said. “It’s funny though, good or bad, and I realized this singing these songs at the album launch, but when I sing the song I go right back to the situation that inspired it.”
Josh said he appreciated the support of his friends, family and fans.
“Their words of love and encouragement really have help me to pick up and keep going on with this, even at times when I wanted to throw my hands up and walk away.” he said. “Also to Dan Huff and Big Appal Studios for producing and recording the album. And of course our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for surrounding me with so many good people and friends in this business who truly love me and want the best for me, its humbling.”
