Maj. Matthew Scott, a native of Williamson, received his promotional certificate from Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer at KSP headquarters in Frankfort on March 23.
A 17-and-a-half year veteran of the agency, Scott is commander of the KSP Operations Support Troop and is responsible for the Driver Testing Branch, Facilities Security Branch, Financial and Grants Management Branch, Inspections and Evaluations Branch, Legislative Security Branch, Public Affairs Branch and the Strategic Planning Branch.
His previous duty assignments include KSP Post 6 in Dry Ridge, Post 9 in Pikeville, Post 14 in Ashland, the Internal Affairs Branch and the Properties Management and Supply Branch. He also served as commander of KSP Post 11 in London and Post 12 in Frankfort.
A Frankfort, Ky., resident, Scott is a 1989 graduate of Williamson High School and a 1992 graduate of the West Virginia State University. He is the son of Katherine Sue Scott of South Williamson, Ky., and the late Harold Arthur Scott. He is married to Lisa (Earnest) Scott, formerly of Hardy, Ky. They have two children, Malia Grace and Joshua Matthew Scott.
