WILLIAMSON - A man was arrested Sunday morning, allegedly involved with another man in two recent crimes in Williamson.
Williamson Chief of Police C.D. Rockel told the Daily News that Shy-Quon Brandt Johnson, 28, of Williamson, was involved in the alleged theft of an Xbox 360 console and the strong-arm robbery of an “elderly gentleman.”
In both alleged crimes, Johnson was partnered with Steven Christopher Davidson, 27, of Turkey Creek, Ky., who had already been arrested for the console theft and just recently charged with the other robbery crime.
“Johnson was picked up at around 2 a.m. Sunday,” Rockel said. “He was just walking through downtown.”
Rockel said that Lt. G.P. Dotson, Sgt. John Hall and Patrolman Jeff Taylor initially arrested Johnson for the Xbox theft. The warrants for the strong-arm robbery of an 85-year-old man that allegedly took place March 4, just recently came though and both men were charged further.
At around 9 p.m. on March 4, Rockel said that Davidson and Johnson, broke into a senior citizen’s home on West Fifth Avenue. The chief said that the two men shoved an 85-year-old man down and began rummaging through his pockets, ultimately robbing him of $340 before “taking off through the back door.”
Johnson was charged with petit larceny, burglary and transfer of stolen property stemming from a burglary earlier this month, before the strong-arm robbery, from a residence on Levine Street, in which he is accused of stealing an Xbox 360. He was further charged with robbery and burglary from the strong-arm robbery.
Davidson was charged with petit larceny and burglary from the alleged crime on Levine Street. He was formally charged with robbery and burglary from his alleged participation in the strong-arm robbery.
Rockel said that Davidson admitted to using the money he had stolen from the man to purchase drugs. Johnson reportedly admitted to breaking in and stealing the Xbox 360, but didn’t say much about the strong-arm robbery crime he is accused of.
Both men were arraigned, and in Davidson’s case, re-arraigned, before Magistrate Dee Sidebottom. They are currently lodged at Southwestern Regional Jail, in Holden. Johnson is held on a $3,500 bond and Davidson on a $5,000 bond.
