RED JACKET — A large crowd gathered at the Red Jacket Community Church on Sunday afternoon to honor two Mingo County residents, the late Rev. Arnold and Nell Mollette.
The Mollette’s children, Arnold Mollette and his wife Angie and daughter, Kathy Ditty were present for the memorial dedication of the bridge in front of the Church that Rev. Mollette pastored for some 55 years.
The legislature pasted Senate Resolution No. 24, sponsored by Sen. H. Truman Chafin (D-Mingo), during the regular 2012 legislative session.
Chafin, a long-time friend of Arnold and Nell, recalled their tenderness, kindness and love that they had for their church and community. The Mollette’s children thanked the gathering for attending the memorial ceremony and shared personal stories about the life and times of their parents.
Arnold and Nell taught in the Mingo County school system for forty years and many in the audience recalled that neither seldom lost a chance to say kind words and unselfishly give to their community.
