West Virginia got another football commitment for the 2013 season this past Saturday.

You could also say they got another victory over Clemson. Isaac McDonald, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound defender from Hialeah, Fla., had been committed to Clemson, but WVU running backs coach Robert Gillespie continued his pursuit of the athlete and eventually he took back his commitment.

Listed at both outside linebacker and safety, WVU foresees McDonald as another Robert Sands for the future of the program.

… Mountaineer fans will be given the opportunity to get autographs from their favorite WVU coaches and players at the WVU football team’s annual Fan Day on Sunday afternoon, August 12, at 1 p.m., in the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility.

Coach Dana Holgorsen, assistant coaches and WVU players will be signing autographs and visiting with fans from 1-3 p.m. Gates will open at 12:45 p.m.

In an effort to accommodate as many requests as possible, each fan will be limited to one autograph item. Setting up posed pictures with players and coaches will not be allowed in order to keep lines moving and to give as many fans as possible the chance to get an autograph from Mountaineer players and coaches.

…. All fans attending the WVU-Baylor game are encouraged to take part in ‘Stripe the Stadium’ on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium for the West Virginia’s first Big 12 Conference football game.

Fans sitting in even-numbered sections (Sec. 102, 104, 202, 204 etc.), Touchdown Terrace, and WVU students seated in the upper level student sections are encouraged to wear GOLD to the game.

Conversely, fans sitting in odd-numbered sections (Sec. 101, 103, 201, 203, etc.) and WVU students seated in the lower level student sections are encouraged to wear BLUE to the game.

In addition, the WVU-Oklahoma football game on Saturday, Nov. 17, is a “Gold Rush”, presented by EZToUse.com. All fans are encouraged to wear gold for the Big 12 Conference matchup with the Sooners.

The Mountaineers open the season at home on Saturday, Sept. 1, against Marshall at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.

… Former WVU defensive end Julian Miller is heading to Canada for an opportunity to play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Miller went undrafted back in April by the NFL. But, the Columbus, Ohio native’s opportunity to sign as an undrafted free agent came from the nearby Cincinnati Bengals, but that ended before it even began. Following his first position meeting with the team, Miller was met by a member of the staff who told him the results of his physical did not check out the way Cincinnati had hoped, and they released him.
