NAUGATUCK - Tug Valley jumped out to a 42-14 halftime lead as Panthers picked up a home win and crushed Richwood 89 to 37 on Saturday night.

Senior Mikey Newsome paced Tug Valley with 18 points, while seniors Austin Brewer and Josh White added 16 and 14 points, respectively. Senior center Corey Dillon added 10 points. Brewer led the Panthers with seven assists.

Levi Mowery and Braden Johnson each had eight points for Richwood.

Tug Valley was 9 of 14 at the free throw line for 57 percent and 37-69 from the field for 54 percent. Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson’s squad hit 7-9 from 3-point range for a nice 78 percent.

Several players got into the scoring column for Tug Valley and saw significant playing time.

The Panthers are now 4-1 on the season and travel to Man on Wednesday night.
