The WV Freedom Festival will once again offer their crowd-pleasing contests during the festival set for July 5-7 in downtown Logan.

A $250 grand prize will be given to the winner of the WV Freedom Festival Talent Show Contest on Thursday, July 5.

To compete, you must dress up and your act must be clean, after all, it is a family event. You must have your song on a disc ready to play one hour before the show, which begins at 7 p.m., at the sound tent to ensure that your CD does work.

Your act will be judged and $250 will be awarded to the winner. There will be medals for each participant and special prizes for the runner up, crowd’s choice, best group, best individual and best costume. Any level of talent — including singing, comedy, gymnastics, special tricks or acting — is acceptable.

But you have to register to enter the contest. To register, email amberviars@gmail.com by July 2nd with “TALENT SHOW ENTRY” as the subject line.

Likewise, a $250 grand prize will be awarded to the winner of the WV Freedom Festival Lip Sync Contest set for Friday, July 6, at 7 p.m. The Lip Sync Contest means you do not actually have to sing — you just have to dress and act the part.

Again, you must dress up to be an act and the act must be clean. You must have your song on a disc ready to play one hour before the show at the sound tent to ensure that your CD does work.

Your act will be judged, and $250 will be awarded to the winner. There will be medals for each participant and special prizes for the runner up, crowd’s choice and best costume.

You have to register to enter and win. Register by emailing amberviars@gmail.com By July 2 with “LIP SYNC CONTEST ENTRY” as the subject line.

Please note that if the rules are that if you are doing both the talent show and lip sync contests, you can not have the same act for both.

If you think your pet is a winner, register it to compete in the WV Freedom Festival Pet Show on Thursday, July 5, beginning at 6 p.m.

Pet owners are encouraged to dress up their pet and dress up to match their pet. Your pet does not have to do a trick; however, your pet must be tame and be able to be around a crowd. The animal must be on a leash at all times, and participants are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.

You must be at the main stage area between LB&T and the Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. to prepare for the show. Entrants will be introduced one at a time. Trophies, medals and cash will be awarded to the winners including a $50 grand prize. There will also be awards for best domestic pet, best exotic pet (bird, mouse, etc), crowds choice and most patriotic.

To register your pet for the Pet Show, email amberviars@gmail.com with “PET SHOW REGISTRATION” in the subject line by July 2. You must enter your name, your pet name, the pet breed and list anything special or tricks that the pet may do.
