Dear Editor:
I am writing to express how I feel about the garbage bill that came out in July for Williamson. On this bill there was an Emergency Service Fee for $12 and the garbage went from $45 to $60 for three months. This is an outrage. The Emergency Service Fee is for the Police and Fire Department. They don’t do their job, anyway. Why do we need to pay it for? So, they can have more movies to watch. When you do call the police, you never see them. Dispatch says they are on patrol but all of the cars are usually at the police department or out somewhere eating. People speed when they shouldn’t and nothing is done about it. No police car is there to catch these speeders and it hard to say where they are. It takes the fire department a while to get to a fire, too. There was a small piece about having to pay for the police and the fire department in the newspaper but no one probably read it because it was in the main back of the paper. Nothing was ever mentioned in the paper about the garbage bills going up. How are those on a fixed income suppose to pay this hike?
Thank You,
Stephanie Rice
