Minnie DeHart
Minnie Mae DeHart, 93, of McCarr, Ky., passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 27, 1916, in Wise, Va., a daughter of the late Jack and Hattie Collins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil N. DeHart; and daughter, Cecilia Sue DeHart.
Minnie was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children, Bobby Jack DeHart of Kalamozoo, Mich., Shirley DeHart Blackburn of Lexington, Ky., Hazel DeHart (Billy) Joy of Charleston, S.C., and Ann DeHart (Tom) Hart of Lexington; one Sister, Elpha; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, Appalachian Plaza, South Williamson, Ky., with Buddy Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sauturday at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home.

Scott Hager
Scott E. Hager, 34, of Ransom, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.
He was born July 7, 1975, in Williamson, the son of Frank Dana Hager, Sr., of Ransom and Kathy West of North Matewan.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Hager of Ransom; and his maternal grandmother, Ida Mae Ernest of Hardy, Ky.
He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
He is survived by his paternal grandmother, Beatrice Hager of Ransom; his maternal grandfather, Charles Ernest of Hardy; his brothers and sisters: James (Priscilla) Hager of Phelps, Ky., Wanda (Lenis) Testerman of Ransom, Doris (Doug) Greer of Helen, Freda (Lonnie) Hatfield of Bolt, Keith (Patty) Hager of Ransom, Kristie West of Burnwell, Ky., Kandace West of North Matewan, Terry West, Timothy West, and Tracey West all of North Matewan, Frank Dana Hager, Jr. of Ransom, Jessie Ryan Hager of Lexington, Ky., and Austin Lee Hager of Forest Hills, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by a special friend, Brandon “Smiley” Hager of Ransom; and his step-father, Terry West.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7., at the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home with Chad Crawford, Unice Davis, and Aaron Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Alley Cemetery at Ransom.
Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral of Phelps.

Mounts Sr.
Morris Randal Mounts Sr., 80, of Wilmington, Ohio; formerly of Matewan died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Matewan.
He was born in Thacker, Sept. 27, 1929, a son of the late Archie and Flossie Jane Lambert Mounts. He was preceded in death by sisters Edith Dotson and Phyllis Mounts.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Wilmington, Ohio; son, Morris “Dude” Mounts Jr. of Kettering, Ohio; stepson, Joshua Robinette of Zenia, Ohio; daughters, Debbie Evans of Kingston, Tenn., Terry Evans of Knoxville, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Sherry Rave of Waynesville, Ohio; brothers, Guy, Ronnie, and Kenny Mounts, all of Matewan, Jack Mounts of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Tressie Brooks of Chapmanville, Mabel Layne of Buskirk, Ky., Barbara Harris of Varne and Jane Varney, both of Varney, Ruby May of Thacker, and Gwen Thornesbury of Matewan; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church of Spring Valley, Ohio. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bellbrook, Ohio
The family will begin receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8, at the chapel of Chambers Funeral Services-Matewan with a special service at 7:00 p.m. with Darrell Ratliff officiating.

Dianne Ooten
Mary Dianne Pertee Ooten, 59, of Williamson, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.
Born March 16, 1950, in Williamson, she was the daughter of James Madison Pertee
of Fishers, Ind., and the late Alpha Gouge Pertee. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a brother, James Madison Pertee, Jr.; a sister, Nancy Pertee Noe; her mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Graydon C. Ooten, Sr.; a brother-in-law, Otis Francis; and a nephew, Brett Pertee.
Dianne was a 1968 graduate of Williamson High School and she was a graduate of Marshall University.
Dianne was a gifted classroom teacher with the Mingo County Board of Education, having retired after 36 years of dedicated service. Most of the years of her teaching career were spent at West Williamson Elementary and Riverside Elementary. She was presently working as a substitute teacher in the Mingo County school system.
Dianne dedicated her life to her classroom and the children she spent her days instructing. Education was very important to Dianne. She wanted her students to do well in the classroom and she worked hard to help them develop their skills and talents. She wanted all children to enjoy happy and successful lives.

I was important in the life of a child.
Dianne was also very devoted to her family. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother to her son and only child, Christopher. She deeply loved Christopher and she was very proud of his accomplishments.
Dianne was a Christian by God’s sovereign grace and all her hope and trust was in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dianne will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered always.
Dianne is survived by her husband, Christopher C. Ooten of Williamson; her beloved son, Christopher Ooten, a sophomore at West Virginia University, Morgantown; two step-daughters, Kim Ooten Hollie, Clearwater, Fla., and Angie Ooten of Pinellas Park, Fla.; one brother, Tom (Diana) Pertee, Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Goldie Pertee (Wayne) Taylor, Fishers; 10 nieces, Rebecca Warren, Dora Noe Kendrick, Amy Pertee Dering, Leah Taylor, Charlotte Noe Elliott, Christie Ooten, Dawn Bowen, Evelyn Ooten, Iona Ooten and Kayla Ooten; six nephews, Brian Francis, MD, Clinton R. Ooten, II, Andrew Joshua Ooten, Gregory Nicholas Ooten, Matthew Taylor and Thomas Pertee. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Dessie (David) Yates; brothers-in-law, Clinton R. (Mildred) Ooten, Sr., Graydon C. (Sharon) Ooten, Jr., Gregory Q. (Sandy) Ooten and Lawrence Ooten; and three grandchildren, Jacqueline Ooten, Colten Hollie and Zackarie Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8, Weaver Mortuary. The Reverend Tom Harding, Pastor of the Pikeville Zebulon Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Pallbearers include Zach Staten, Robert Atkins, Bobby Hurley, Jarrid McCormick, Josh Stacy and Matt Taylor. Andy West will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, Nov. 7, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the mortuary.

Bobbie Thacker
Bobbie Lou Thacker, 52 of Slaters Branch, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Pikeville Medical Center Emergency Room.
She was born Aug.t 22, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late Curtis and Edith Rutherford Singleton. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Williamson; and grandson, Roger Gage Thacker.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ, Williamson.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Gene Thacker of Slaters Branch; three sons, Donald Caudill, Roger Thacker Jr. and Bobby Thacker, all of Slaters Branch; two sisters, Barbara Williamson of Logan, and Lutitia Caudill of Scott’s Depot; and three grandchildren, Bethany and Lilly Rose Thacker and Donnie Caudill.
Funeral services will held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel, Appalachian Plaza, South Williamson, Ky. with Okey Varney and David Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Thacker Family Cemetery, Millard, Ky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Friday, the funeral home.
