George Ed Williamson, age 77 of Hardy, Ky., passed away Oct. 17, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born Sept. 11, 1932 in Canada, Ky., to the late Jack and Alley Brown Williamson.
He was veteran having retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service to his country. He served during the Korean Conflict
and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sherry Williamson, brothers John T. and R.C. Williamson, and his sister Janice Williamson.
George is survived by his sons: Michael Edward Williamson of Hardy, Dewayne Williamson of Morehead, Ky., Steve Williamson who is serving and stationed in Iraq, and Kevin Williamson of Louisville; brothers: Donald Ray Williamson of Sidney, Ky., Larry Williamson of Charleston, S.C., Roy G. Williamson of Canada, Ky., and Woodrow Williamson of Sidney; and sisters: Mae Reed of Williamson, Betty Rose of Chattaroy, and Loretta Young of Cave Run, Ky. George is also survived by six grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held Monday, Oct. 19 at the Turkey Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at 4 p.m. with special services at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the church at 11 a.m. with Ebb Sesco, Hobart Hamilton, and Richard Staton officiating. Interment will follow at the Williamson Family Cemetery at Meathouse Hollow in Canada, Ky., with military rites by the DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry, Ky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
