SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. – Fittingly, Alexis Batausa won the first annual Fe 5K race held last Friday in South Williamson.
The 5K run, which was an event sponsored by the Tug Valley Road Runners Club, was in honor of Fe Batausa, who recently died after a long illness. Her husband is a longtime local physician Dr. Jaime Batausa.
Batausa’s time was 22 minutes and 24 seconds. Coming in second place was Jason Cooper, who finished one second behind his friend Batausa.
Mary Beth Johnson was the first place female winner with a time of 25:20. Harold Osborne finished fourth overall and won for the oldest runner 50 and over.
There were 64 runners who competed in the race. Several more local runs are being organized for the coming months.
