BELCHER, Ky. — A 83-year-old man was the victim of a carjacking and armed robbery Thursday, according to the Kentucky State Police.
During investigation of the robbery, KSP Det. Jimmy Anderson and Troopers Jay Perkins and Johnny Slone allegedly obtained enough evidence to arrest Glen D. Kinney, 26, of Feds Creek the next day.
According to a report from the Kentucky State Police, the victim (whose name is being withheld by authorities) was driving alone through the southern portion of Pike County in the Ferrells Creek community located near Elkhorn City. He stopped to pick up a man — later to believed to be Kinney — who was standing beside the road.
Kinney then pulled a knife on the old man and to possession of the car, police reports said. Kinney then drove the victim to a nearby bank and forced him to make a cash a check.
Following this, the victim was then driven back to his residence where Kinney allegedly robbed the man's house as well.
Unfortunately this was not the end of the ordeal for the elderly Pike Countian. Police said Kinney then forced him back in the car, drove to a secluded area, forced the victim out of the car. Kinney fled the scene in the victim's car. Then the old man found himself standing alone on the side of the road.
Kinney was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of first-degree robbery, kidnapping, theft by unlawful taking — auto and second-degree burglary. Kinney remained in custody as of presstime. According to booking officers at the jail, no bond has been set.
