Michael Fields scored four touchdowns to lead East Ridge to a 60-28 home win over Phelps last Friday night.

Fields scored the Warrior’s first TD with 9:14 left in the 1st quarter on a 24-yard run. The 2-point conversion made it 8-0.

Phelps answered as senior signal caller Zack Avina scored on a 4-yard run with 6:59 left in the opening quarter. The conversion failed and the Hornets trailed 8-6.

After a fumble recovery by Chris Stump, Phelps took the lead when junior Davon Smith scored on an 18-yard scamper. The 2-point conversion gave the Hornets a 14-8 lead.

Fields scored on the next offensive possession by East Ridge on a 34-yard run. The kick was blocked and the game was tied at 14-14.

In the second quarter, Fields recovered a fumble and raced 66 yards for another TD. He then scored another touchdown to give East Ridge a 30-14 lead.

East Ridge added another TD in the closing seconds of the half as Eric Dotson connected with Barry Young on a halfback pass. The Warriors led 38-14 at halftime.

East Ridge continued to roll in the second half to take a commanding lead. Phelps got another TD from Smith on a 65-yard run and one from Nick Ratliff on a 26-yard run.

Phelps is now 0-3 on the season and is idle this week. They will play Montcalm, W.Va. September 14 at Vipperman Stadium in Belfry. East Ridge is now 1-2 and will also be idle this week, but will host Hurley, Va. on September 14.
