Billy Ray May, 64, of Varney, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

He was born May 29, 1945 in Pike County, Ky., to the late Dennie and Zella (Varney) May.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Fundamental Christian Church in Varney.

He is survived by his wife Patsy May; his children, Leslie (Yvonne) May, Billie (Perry) Taylor and Melissa May, both of Pikeville, Ky.; son-in-laws Richard Maynard of Pikeville, Ky., and Louie Browning of Mingo County; siblings, T.J. May of Indiana, Ruby Anderson and Linda Pinson, both of Pikeville; and Jean Thacker of Kimper, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Stephen Pinson, Wesley Allen May, Joshua May, William Browning, and Andrew Browning.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Fundamental Christian Church in Varney with Jay West and others officiating. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery in Varney.

Visitation services will be held Friday, Nov. 6 at the Community Funeral Home in Pikeville at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. at the Fundamental Christian Church in Varney.

Arrangements are under the direction of Community Funeral Home of Pikeville.
