Basil Burl Keesee, 88 of McMinnville, Tenn., died Monday, June 14, 2010. A native of Ransom, Ky., he was a retired coal miner, a member of McMinnville First Free Will Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Stone, KY. Mr. Keesee was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Mae Keesee, parents Richard and Lina Mayse Keesee, brothers James William and Walter D. Keesee and sisters Blanche Dotson and Vicy May.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Connie and John Oliver of McMinnville, TN and son and daughter-in-law, Burl and Darlene Keesee of Vandalia, Ohio, brother Ballard Sterl Keesee of Florida, and sisters Thelma Scott of Ohio and Betty Smith of Florida; grandchildren, Mike (Merrill) Oliver, Patrick Keesee, Julia Skrlac, Wesley Keesee, Paulette Weatherford and Denise Smith, and 14 great-grandchildren including Jace Oliver.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. William Eversole will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. The Keesee Family will receive friends Wednesday, 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
