MORGANTOWN – West Virginia’s Tavo Austin was named to the CBSSports.com Pre-season All-America Team Monday, WVU’s lone representative on the list.

The speedy Austin was selected as the first team all-purpose player after leading the nation in all-purpose yards as a junior. He is also listed on the second team as a kick returner.

Austin finished his junior campaign with 1,186 receiving on a school-record 101 catches while adding 182 yards rushing with an average per carry of 11.4 yards. He had eight offensive touchdowns.

When lined up to return both punts and kickoffs, Austin racked up combined 1,206 yards and two kickoff returns for touchdowns.

Austin returns for West Virginia as one of the nation’s most explosive players and a favorite target for Mountaineers quarterback Geno Smith, who is also entering his senior season with the team.

Austin, a Baltimore, Md. native, hopes to continue his momentum from a four-touchdown Orange Bowl performance in January.
