For most people, prayer is low on the priority list and does not always make the daily schedule. In spite of it being our life line, most effective weapon, and an open channel of communication with God, it is often times neglected. Statistics tells us that people pray an average of 3 minutes a day. The disconnect from the power source of Heaven has left many spiritually weak and defeated. It may also be the best explanation for the declining Church attendance and the dreadful condition of our nation. Many spend more time on social media, cell phones, and watching television than talking to God. It may be that they do not realize the transformative power of prayer.

Hebrews 4:16 describes prayer as more than a quiet time: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We do not have to wait in line, leave a message, or talk to God’s secretary. By the blood of Jesus, we have access into the holy place. At the throne of grace we may plead directly with God. He will listen to our every cry and answer according to his will. We can come boldly because he understands our needs and is the Great Shepherd that will take care of us. He may not be a genie in a bottle, but is the loving father that will meet all of our needs. Scripture records that he is our Savior, deliverer, strength, healer, provider, advocate, and protector.

In ancient times, thrones were a symbol of authority and great power. On the throne, kings would have the final decision over legal matters, land disputes, religious, social, and economic issues. A decree of the King could mean life and death for some. It has had enormous capacity to impact the world. How much more power does the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings has over the heavens and the earth? With one decree from the throne we can be forgiven. It is there we can find strength for our journey, peace from our storm, healing for our body, deliverance from any addiction, and receive provision for all our needs. What would one decree from the King do for our nation? How about the drug culture that is destroying so many lives? He who sits on the throne has the final decision over all.

How long has it been since you talked to God? The Lord invites you to petition at the throne of grace where he can make the final decision for your issue. The doctor may have given you a grim report, but God has the final decision. Satan may have wreaked havoc on your family, but God has the final decision. You may have been turned down for a job but you have connections in high places. Our leaders may have made destructive decisions but the throne of Heaven is the highest office. People may have condemned you for your past but the Lord makes the final decision on your eternity. It is time that you petition the King and watch the limitless power from the throne move in your situation. Allow God to make a decree that will change your life and bring his will to earth as it is in heaven. You will obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.
