America is suffering from a serious condition known as Bible Deficiency. The symptoms include moral deterioration, spiritual weakness, lack of moral direction, purpose, decision makings skills and stability, breakdown of the family, an absence of divine peace and joy, and confusion about what is right and wrong. This spiritual infection has also contributed to an incompetent government and a failing education system. Surprisingly, this deficiency has even crept into some Churches causing them to be completely ineffective. The national ailment has reached dangerous levels and for many could lead to self-destruction. Fortunately, there is a remedy that can heal this issue. A daily dosage of the Bible can cure all spiritual sicknesses.
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of America, stressed the importance of this book: “But for this Book we could not know right from wrong. I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man.” President Lincoln and other leaders did not envision a theocracy or attempt to force their beliefs on others. However, seeking God and looking to his word for guidance has brought this country out of troubled times. It has also resulted in prosperity and many blessings that come from the Lord. Just like many times in the past, we can still look to him and follow His Word. This is the answer that our nation so desperately needs.
The Bible is not only important for the guidance of nations, but for all individuals. King David shared this view in Psalms 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Without the scriptures, we could not even know God personally. His Word reveals his will and plan for our lives. It guides us to righteousness, wisdom, and eternal life. We can only find great success and spiritual strength when we apply it to our lives. Many people will listen to the message but not follow directions. This is like a patient not following the doctor’s orders in the treatment of a deadly disease. How would your life be different if the Bible took priority? If you are weak spiritually, it may be time for a daily dose of the gospel.
