ASHLAND, Ky. - Mike Cullop one the latest tourney of the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its sixth tournament of the 2014 season on the Ohio River at Ashland, Ky. 29 anglers competed in the event.
The Ohio River has been fairly stable for the last month and was in great shape for the tournament. The water was normal elevation and stained with a slow current.
Weather for the tournament was good with partly cloudy skies, light winds and an air temperature around 85 degrees.
The fishing was a little tough even for the river, with the stable water conditions it was expected to fish a lot better.
The main pattern for this tournament was to fish top water in the morning then switch to soft plastic lures and crankbaits fished around any hard cover and grass in 1 to 6 feet of water on the main river. Lures that imitated bait fish were the top producers. Total fish weighed in was over 40 lbs.
