… Mountaineer fans will be given the opportunity to get autographs from their favorite WVU football players at the team’s annual Fan Day on Sunday, August 10, at 2:30 p.m., in the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility.

Coach Dana Holgorsen, assistant coaches and WVU players will be signing autographs and visiting with fans from 2:30 - 4 p.m. Gates will open at 2:15 p.m.

Setting up posed pictures with players and coaches will not be allowed in order to keep lines moving and to give as many fans as possible the chance to get an autograph from Mountaineer players and coaches.

… The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday the team will retire Hall of Fame defensive end Joe Greene’s uniform No. 75 during a game against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 2. It’s about time. “Mean Joe” is one of the iconic figures in Steelers history.

Greene helped Pittsburgh win four Super Bowls during his 13-year career as the heart of what became the “Steel Curtain” defense. The 10-time Pro Bowler was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1987.

No Steeler has worn No. 75 since Greene retired in 1981. He is the second player in team history to have his number retired. Pittsburgh retired Hall of Fame defensive lineman Ernie Stautner’s No. 70 in 1964.

… Remember former Mountaineer basketball player Aaric Murray? He had some problems before he came to WVU, while he was in enrolled at the school and apparently it has continued. The former WVU player was dismissed from the team prior to his senior season. He was arrested this week in Morgantown and charged with DUI.

Murray, 25, was stopped after being observed driving a car without one of its front wheels in downtown Morgantown. His blood-alcohol level of .165 was just over twice the legal limit, according to police reports.

Murray, who was released on bond, played last season at Texas Southern. He averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds there last season. He played at both LaSalle and WVU before that. He had hopes of making it to the NBA, but was not drafted or signed as a free agent by any team.
