The Hoop Dreams squad is from Fairmont and was the 2014 defending State AAU Champions.

The squad is coached by Ed May and Brian Hatfield.

This is the fourth tournament this year for the Southern Express. Their season record is 14-3.

Their first tournament was in Logan and they played up in the 9th grade division and lost in the semi-finals.

Their second tournament was the Cincinnati Bearcat Classic and the Mingo squad went 4-1 in that tournament and also lost in the semi-final game.

They played in a 3rd tournament in Knott County, Ky. and played up in the 9th grade division and won first place in that event.

In the Fairmont tournament the Southern Express went 6-0, also winning first place.

They play their next tournament in Mason Ohio at King’s Island on Memorial Weekend. This team has played in the USBA Nationals the last two years at Myrtle Beach. Last year as 7th graders they lost in quarter finals and their 6th grade year they were runner-up.

Southern Express has a couple of tournaments planned for June and in July this summer and will travel to Myrtle Beach again for the USBA Nationals.
