The water at the Mingo Central football complex was in the process of being repaired on Monday. It has been turned off since last winter after pipes froze and burst due to the extremely cold winter.
The Mingo County School’s offices had been waiting for the insurance company to make some decisions.
With practice scheduled to start on Monday, August 4 and the East-West Bowl game set for Saturday, August 2nd the water needed to be repaired this week.
… Kentucky high schools have started football practice this week. Unfortunately the cooler weather the region had at the end of last week has turned back to more humid, hot weather.
However, most schools practice early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the harsh “dog days” summer weather the area usually experiences this time of year.
Defending Class AAA state champion Belfry hit CAM Stadium on Monday evening for their first session.
… Mingo Central football players will meet on Sunday, July 27th at 3 p.m. This will be a mandatory football meeting at Miner’s football complex. All players must be there to receive equipment and practice schedules.
… This is the official statement from WVU Football Coach Dana Holgorsen on Wendell Smallwood: “We are fully aware of all proceedings involving Wendell Smallwood and will continue to monitor the situation. To protect the integrity of the criminal proceedings in Delaware, including the state’s case against the unrelated defendant, we cannot comment further at this time. Additional information will be available at the conclusion of all proceedings. As a team, we will continue to prepare for the 2014 football season and look forward to the start of camp on July 31.”
… The 2014 Big XII Conference Football Preseason Media Poll was released offering a vision on how the league’s media believes the conference will finish. The Oklahoma Sooners were chosen to win the Big XII Conference, receiving 47 first place votes. However, the Baylor Bears were not too far behind in second place, given a total of nine first place votes.
… Marshall is predicted to finish first in Conference USA. It should be a fun season for Thundering Herd fans.
