The Tug Valley Panthers will hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to McDowell County to take on Mt. View.

They will leave the friendly confines of their football field at Naugatuck and take a 1-1 record into week three. They won their season opener over Sherman, but lost to a good Meadow Bridge squad last Friday night.

“We have to learn from our mistakes that we made last week against Meadow Bridge,” head Coach Tony Clusky said.

“Mt.View has a pretty good team, and their record doesn’t show it. But they have some good athletes. We must do a better job on special teams containing their speed. We have taken care of some little things in practice this week,” Clusky added..

Senior David Runyon and sophomore Phillip Lucas each have 119 yards rushing in the first two games. Runyon has two rush TDs and one receiving. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Conley has 84 yards on the ground and a TD, while he has pass for 167 yards and a pair of scores. Austin Baisden has one TD on a 40-yard reception and Aaron Copley has caught two passes for 42 yards.

Lucas carried the football more last week and he had better production on the ground.

On defense, Jonathan Farley leads the way with 12 tackles, Conley has 11, Lucas and Copley seven each, while Runyon and Dwayne Marcum each have six.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
