A recent survey from Psychology Today reveals that over 3 million people in the US feels sadness most of the time. The same study also shares that almost 2 million people feels hopeless. Is it because these folks lost jobs and worry about providing for their families? Could it be that some have been diagnosed with an illness that the doctors can not cure? Maybe these people have experienced so much disappointment that they refuse to believe that things could get better. Whatever the reason, there are many depressed people in the world today. Although there is much despair, God’s Word is full of hope and offers the remedy.
We have an advocate in our corner today with all the answers. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus speaks to us: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” When you think about who God is personally, this is an incredible invitation. God is the one who created the whole universe. Is there anything too hard for him? There is no one as wise, no one more powerful, and no one with such compassion. If you have a problem, he has the solution. God is bigger than Donald Trump and is way wealthier. He owns it all and is very, very rich. Even more important, he is not a politician and will not make false promises. As majestic as God is, he invites us all with our baggage, our issues, and imperfections to seek him. We can ask of him anything according to his will and he will answer. God cares about our needs and our situations and wants to get involved in our lives.
Do you feel like your situation is hopeless? Put your trust in the God that died on the cross and loves you. He knows exactly what you are going through and has the right plan. Why not take him at his word and seek him? Pray and ask him to reveal himself to you. Pour out your heart and bring your needs before the Heavenly King. He may not be the genie in the bottle that grants all wishes, but he is the caring father that does what is best for his children. The Bible shares that God can move the mountains, part the sea, light our path, heal the sick, open the blinded eyes, and raise the dead. This is the God that you can know personally and make your request before his throne. A real relationship with Jesus will fill your heart full of joy and utterly change your life. It is time that you engage your creator and receive all that he has for you!
