NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Edra Newsome, 91, of Naugatuck, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
Born January 9, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Edward Fitzpatrick and Mae Darnell Fitzpatrick. Also preceding her in death was a beloved son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Reta Newsome; three sisters, Elayne Lewis, Ruth Powell and Thelma Brown, and three brothers, Roy and Emory Fitzpatrick and John Parsley.
Edra was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and mother. She dearly loved her dogs and enjoyed looking after them. She was a fine cook and while her health allowed, she enjoyed cooking and preparing meals at the Naugatuck Church of God where she was a longtime member.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Newsome; four brothers, Elbert (Barbara) Fitzpatrick of Lancaster, Ohio, Charles (Florence) Fitzpatrick of Sunberry, Ohio, Clyde (Sue) Fitzpatrick of Lewis Center, Ohio, and Paul (Judy) Fitzpatrick of New Boston, Ohio; two sisters, Pauline Crawford of Columbus, Ohio, and Phyllis (Jimmy) Messer of Fort Gay; three grandchildren; her longtime friend and caregiver, Trish and her husband, Jess Davis, of Delbarton and their children and grandchildren whom Edra thought of and loved as though they were her own, Eric and LaDonna Davis, Kim and Rodney Goff, Easton and Ashton Davis and Braydan Goff
The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.
The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. with Jimmy Maynard officiating. Interment is in the Newsome Family Cemetery at Naugatuck, WV. Pallbearers include Elbert, Clyde, Todd and Doug Fitzpatrick, Jess and Eric Davis and Rodney Goff.
