WILLIAMSON - An event that has become extremely popular during the annual King Coal Festival is the Car. Bike and Truck Show, that will take place this year on Saturday, Sept. 21st on 1st Avenue in Williamson.

Dave and Connie Rockel, the seasoned sponsors who have headed up this event for several years, have expressed that they would love to see the number of entrees surpass the amount who participated in 2012, which was right at one hundred.

“I would love to see us double that amount this year,” stated Dave. “We have the most unique trophies of any local competition and those who have entered in the past years have commented over and over about how impressed they were by the one of-a-kind design.”

Registration is set to begin at 9 a.m. An entry fee of $20 for each vehicle or motorcycle will be charged. Judging will take place in the afternoon with the winners being announced at approximately 3:30 p.m. A total of 11 specialty trophies in the car and truck division will be presented and 7 will be awarded to the top finishers in the motorcycle division. Those who place in the top 25 will also receive a trophy.

Those who wish to participate in the King Coal Parade scheduled for 5 p.m. (lineup at 4:30) are encouraged to stick around town and do so. Who knows? Maybe you will be requested to give a ride to one of the individuals who will be receiving awards that day such as Mr. King Coal, as well as the winners of the Humanitarian and Community Service categories.

The Rockel’s also invite you to allow your children to compete in the Children’s Power Wheel Race that will be held at 1 p.m., also on 1st Avenue. There is no charge to enter this event. Prizes will be awarded in this contest as well.

Don’t forget to purchase a few tickets for the 50/50 drawing; you may walk away with half of the amount raced by the day-long ticket sales in your pocket. Door prizes will also be given away throughout the event for those who enter the competition and food and street vendors will be set up peddling their wares.

Bring your families and spend a portion of your time at the 41st annual King Coal Festival checking out the first-class cars, trucks and motorcycles that will be on display all along 1st Avenue (next to the flood wall) in downtown Williamson and stick around to see if your favorite takes homes one of the top place trophies.
