MILLER’S CREEK - A one vehicle accident that occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Friday at the Miller’s Creek and U.S. 119 - U.S. 52 intersection resulted in a Marrowbone Creek resident being airlifted to a nearby trauma center.

According to information obtained from members of the Chattaroy Volunteer Fire Department who were the first to respond to the scene, Dwayne Pack, age 62, was following behind an ambulance that was transporting his wife to the Williamson Memorial Hospital (WMH) when the accident occurred.

Pack is said to have been trying to hurry to catch up with the ambulance when he failed to make the left hand turn onto U.S. 119 toward Williamson from Rt. 52, when he reached the junction at Miller’s Creek. He then proceeded to travel across the four-lane, not stopping until he collided with a concrete barrier. The vehicle was reportedly teetering on the high section of concrete, with the driver trapped inside.

The Jaws of Life had to be utilized to remove the seriously injured man from the wreckage and firefighters stated that Pack suffered multiple traumatic injuries, saying he was bleeding profusely from his head and facial area.

The driver was transported by STAT Ambulance to the Williamson Memorial Hospital’s emergency room and was later airlifted to a trauma center due to the severity of his injuries. No updates were available as of press time on Sunday about his current condition.

Along with the Chattaroy Fire Department, several members of the Williamson Fire Department and other law enforcement officers also responded to the wreck .
