RED JACKET - Hannah Church hit 6-of-9 from the 3-point range and scored 18 points to lead Mingo Central over Tug Valley 49-25 on Thursday night.

Caitlyn Cantrell added 10 points for the Lady Miners, while Ashley Curry scored 8 points. Kiearia Hammond scored 6 points and pulled down 9 rebounds for coach Clay Campbell’s team.

“I thought our full court man defense was the key to the win,” Campbell said. “The girls are buying in to the system and playing hard. Our inside-outside game worked very well. Ashley Curry was very unselfish when being double-teamed. She hit the open person and we moved the ball well.”

Hannah Armstrong led the Lady Panthers with 9 points. Katie Robinson chipped in 6 points. Tug Valley is playing without starting point guard Adreana Vance, who is out with an injury.

MCHS is now 7-7 and hosted Mount View on Saturday night at the MCHS gym. TVHS is now 3-8 and is slated to host Cross Lanes Christian on Friday in the first game of a doubleheader with the boys.
