BELFRY, Ky. - The Belfry Middle School Lady Pirates improved their record to 11-1 on the year with another win Monday night at home. They came away with a 48-14 victory over Martin County.
Belfry was led by Kailee Rash and Lena Hairston with 15 points each. Emily Deaton poured in 6 points. Lyndsey Miller, Taylor Maynard, and Ariel Maynard each contributed 4 points.
Miller led Belfry on the boards with 8 rebounds. Hairston, Maynard, and Deaton pulled down 6 rebounds each. Defensively Belfry had 21 steals and 15 deflections as a team. Hairston led with 6 steals, Deaton 4 steals, Rash, Miller, and Mounts each picked up 3 steals. Deaton also had 8 deflections on the night.
Coach Erik Rash was very pleased with his teams performance. “This was a total team effort. Our girls got after it tonight” said Rash. “We moved the ball well offensively and hit shots. When we shoot the ball well we are hard to beat because we are a good defensive team night in and night out.”
The BMS 7th grade also improved to 11-1 on the year with a 21-16 win over Martin County. BMS was led by Taylor Horton with 11 points and Mounts with 10 points.
