Tug Valley (4-2) dropped to No. 7 in the Class A Associated Press poll this week after a loss at Greater Beckley Christian (6-0) this past Saturday.

Meanwhile, GBC moved up to No. 2 and received a pair of first place votes.

The Panthers were scheduled to play Westside on Tuesday night. They came in ranked No. 4 in Class AA this week with a 5-1 record.

Their only loss came at the hand of their county rival Wyoming East (6-0), who came in at No. 2 behind Robert C. Byrd (8-0).

Huntington St. Joe is ranked No. 1 in Class A, while four other private schools fall in behind Greater Beckley. They include Charleston Catholic, Wheeling Central, Clarksburg Notre Dame and Parkersburg Catholic.

In Class AAA, Washington is ranked No. 1, followed by Huntington, Capital and Hedgesville. The four top teams are undefeated so far this season.

Several teams had games canceled last week because of the severe Arctic cold and snowy weather and this week because of the water contamination problem in the Kanawha Valley area.
