LOUISA, Ky. – The Lawrence County Bulldogs took a bite out of the Belfry Pirates 82-51 on Monday night at the LCHS gym in Louisa, Ky.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-8 first quarter lead and led 43-21 at the half.
Lawrence County outscored Belfry 27-18 in the third quarter and coasted to the victory from that point.
Next season Lawrence County will be moved to Belfry’s 60th District.
The Pirates played without center Cole Bentley who was injured. Dawsom Isom started the game, but was injured in the first quarter and had to be taken to the hospital. His status for the next game was not known.
Garrett Fannin led Belfry with 15 points, while Trey Price and T. J. Dotson chipped in 8 each. Jaret James and Kaleb Edwards both scored 6 points, while Nathan Copley and Austin Woolum had 4 points apiece.
Brandon Richardson led Lawrence County with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Dalton and Robert Dalton added 13 and 12 points respectively for the Dogs, while Grant Kiser fired in 15 points and Austin Chaffins chipped in 9.
Belfry was only 18-56 from the floor for 36 percent, including 2-of-6 from behind the arc. They were 13-17 from the foul line for 76 percent.
LCHS shot 59 percent from the field making 35-59, including 6-16 from 3-point land. The Bulldogs were 6-8 at the charity stripe for 75 percent.
Belfry is now 6-15 and will travel to East Ridge on Thursday. They will host Sheldon Clark in a boys-girls doubleheader on Friday night and it will be Senior Night for the Pirates.
