PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Several games were played Saturday, Jan. 4th in the 15th Region All “A” Classic at the East Kentucky Exposition Center in Pikeville, Ky.


Some games were postponed on Friday night due to the inclement weather, but were made up on Saturday with the other games that were scheduled.


Paintsville 89, Phelps 68


PIKEVILLE – Paintsville used a strong third-quarter performance to pull away and beat Phelps, 89-68, in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic at the East Kentucky Exposition Center on Jan. 4.


The Tigers, now 4-5, outscored the Hornets (1-10) 21-9 to open up a 64-45 lead heading into the final eight minutes.


Luke Daniels poured in a game-high 20 points to lead five Tigers in double-figure scoring. Quinton Hensley added 19 while Luke Trimble and Zach Collins followed with 14 and Thomas Litteral added 11.


Elijah Branham led Phelps with 17 points. Matt Hatfield tallied 14 and Steven Prater added 12.

Sheldon Clark 57, Allen Central 41


PIKEVILLE – Sheldon Clark ran out to a double-digit, first-quarter lead and went on to beat Allen Central, 57-41, in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic at the East Kentucky Exposition Center on Jan. 4.


The Rebels, now 7-4, struggled offensively from the floor in the opening half, falling behind 28-14 at the break.


Austin Salisbury led Allen Central with 13 points while Junior Handshoe chipped in 10.


Sheldon Clark’s Chase Parsley led all scorers with 16 points. Dylan James added 13 and Trevor Blackburn added 10.

Pikeville 73, South Floyd 63


The Panthers, now 4-8, build a double-digit lead in the opening quarter and held it throughout until the Raiders (3-7) closed to within six midway through the final period.


Gaige Ray led the defending champions with a game-high 22 points, including 12 in the first half as the Panthers built a 37-25 halftime lead. Blaine May followed with 20 while Zach Huffman added 10.


Tyler Daniels tossed in 20 to lead the Raiders while Michael Martin added 15.
