LOGAN - The West Virginia House of Delegates will host the next session of their Listening Tour at the Special Occasions Event Center at 384 Yuma Road on Sept. 8, starting at 6 p.m.
The Listening Tour session will address small business and entrepreneurship in West Virginia. Many of the previous sessions were well attended with solutions offered that resulted in legislative action.
Seeking Solutions | Celebrating Successes is a special initiative of the House of Delegates Committee on Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development. The 25-member committee is chaired by Del. Doug Skaff, D-Kanawha.
House Speaker Timothy R. Miley,D-Harrison, introduced the Listening Tour in late 2013 with the objective of hearing firsthand from small business owners and entrepreneurs statewide.
“We will work collaboratively with people at the local level to hear from as many successful small businesses and entrepreneurs as possible to determine what hurdles they might have faced that we, as a legislative body, can remove to allow small businesses to flourish,” Miley said.
The listening session is open to the public.
The committee hopes that area business owners and entrepreneurs of all ages and experience levels will attend – from someone thinking about starting a new business to the third-generation family business owner.
“The listening tour to date has truly raised our awareness of what is working well for small business in West Virginia while, very importantly, and bringing to the surface concrete ideas to help improve the climate for small business in our state,” Skaff said. “I look forward to hearing firsthand from businesses and entrepreneurs in the Logan area.”
The event will be facilitated with the majority of time devoted to listening to the business participants attending. For more information, or to register in advance of the event, visit listeningtour.csurv.com on the web, email email@example.com, or call CESD at 304-293-5551 ext. 0.
