WILLIAMSON – For more than a decade, Pneumafest Christian Music Festival has sought to provide positive family entertainment for young people in the region.
This year’s concert will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Black Gem Park. The concert will feature guest speaker Kaleb Hanshaw and tickets will cost $12 per student and $16 per adult at the gate.
The Pneumafest Committee, comprised of Christians from many denominations, has announced that the headliner for the 2014 Pneumafest Concert is the band For King and Country.
For King and Country was the Dove Awards “New Artist of the Year” and in 2013 generated the highest airplay by a Christian act spending 51 of 52 weeks on the charts and multiple weeks in the Top 10 with songs such as “Middle of Your Heart” and “Hope is what we CRAVE” from their critically acclaimed debut album CRAVE. The Australian-born duo joined Casting Crowns on their Thrive Tour this year as well.
Other bands include Vertical Church, Awestruck Worship and many more.
According to the concert’s official Facebook page, Pneumafest, which began in 2003, started as “a vision to bring a contemporary Christian event to the Tug Valley Area.” The first concert took place in August 2004 at Lefty Hamilton Field in Williamson, West Virginia, and was a two-day event attended by hundreds of people of all ages. Various local groups performed, as well as two award-winning Christian performers, Jeff Deyo and By The Tree.
Pneumafest is 100 percent nonprofit.
The event schedule is as follows:
At 4 p.m., the gates will open. At 4:20 there will be an opening prayer.
From 4:30 to 5 p.m., the group Kevin & Beck will take the stage to peform. From there, at around 5:20 p.m., Shiloh will perform.
