Commissioner Baisden arrested by State Police
Mingo County Commissioner Dave Baisden, 66, was arrested at the Mingo County Court Garage this morning around 9:30 a.m. and put into custody by members of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP).
Baisden is in his second term as Mingo County Commissioner. He had previously worked as the county assessor.

Several state police vehicles were circling the courthouse early Thursday morning. Several bystanders were also curiously hanging around Second Avenue.
Baisden is allegedly charged with extortion involving a local tire company.
According to WV MetroNews Baisden allegedly demanded that Applachian Tire sell him tires at the discounted rate the company sold to the county. The indictment also says Baisden threatened to cut off the business the county did with the company.
Reportedly the Mingo County Commission did cut-off its business with the tire company. The company says it lost thousands of dollars.
Metro News also reported that WVSP cruisers were outside Circuit Judge Mike Thornsbury’s house in West Williamson.
