WILLIAMSON – The Mingo County Commission issued a reminder that Laurel Lake Park will be closed from November 1, 2016 until March 1, 2017. While the park is closed, trashcans and dumpsters are not available for use.
Tina Abbott, Administrative Assistant for the Mingo County Commission issued a reminder that until the park reopens in March, visitors should take all trash with them when they leave.
Abbott further explained the issue stating, “We’re having problems with people leaving bags of trash there even though we haven’t been renting the shelters since Nov 1st. We have removed the actual cans but people are putting trash beside of the empty bins and this could turn into a huge mess. “
Abbott explained that public appreciation would be appreciated and that the overall goal is to keep the park clean. “We are just trying to keep the place clean and I will have the Day Report crew to go down occasionally and check for any trash but if the public could assist it would be great,” Abbott said.
