MATEWAN – Matewan Water has issued an update concerning the recent water outage in Matewan and the surrounding areas.
At this time conditions indicate there is a high probability that your water is contaiminated. Testing has not occured to confirm or deny the presence of contamination in your water.
Do not drink the water without boiling first. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
A main line busted and a utility crew is in the process of repairing it.
Customers will be informed when you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate having the problem resolved within seven days.
