Two injuried in accident

Two people was transported to a local hospital Thursday evening after a collision near Little Caesars at Toler, Ky.


TOLER, Ky. – A two vehicle collision had the intersection of State Route 319 and U.S. Highway 119 near Little Caesar’s at Toler sent two people to the hospital.

A silver Toyota FourRunner driven by Jody Todd of Belfry, Ky was traveling north on 119 when his vehicle collided with a gray Toyota Corolla driven by a 17 year old female who was making a left turn onto from 119 onto Route 319.

According to a statement issued to the investigating officer by an eye witness, the FourRunner was traveling on U.S. 119 toward Williamson and ran a red light hitting the Corolla which was turning from U.S. 119 to Route 319 toward Hardy, Ky.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Tug Valley Regional Medical Center by Appalachian First Response Ambulance Service for precautionary measures.

Belfry Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene with two truck and nine men, they remained on scene for almost two hours while the vehicles and debris were cleared from the scene.

Kentucky State Police Trooper C. Rowe investigated the accident.

Although traffic signals were installed at the intersection years ago, numerous accidents are still common at the intersection.
