BOE recent personnel decisions

GILBERT – At Tuesday’s meeting of the Mingo County Board of Education (BOE) held at Gilbert Elementary school, a number of professional personnel and extracurricular assignments were approved.

The BOE approved four teachers for new employment into existing positions. Taylor Elkins was approved for sixth grade at Williamson PK-8. Tammy Gilman was approved as LPN Coordinator at the Mingo County Extended Learning Center. Charlotte Stewart was approved for Business Education at Tug Valley High School (TVHS). Brittany Williamson was approved as a substitute teacher for Mingo County Schools.

Three resignations were accepted from employment as substitute teachers for Mingo County Schools. The resignations accepted included Rodney Browning, Martha Carter, and Tara Wolford.

A request for an extension to a leave of absence was approved for Mary Rayburn. Rayburn holds an art position at Matewan PK-8.

Several professional extracurricular assignments were approved. Brandon Ball was approved as Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Mingo Central High School (MCHS). Riley Browning and Brandon Cline were approved as Math Tutor’s for the Gear Up program at MCHS. Sherry Copley and Stephanie Damron were approved Homebound Instructors for Mingo County Schools. Andrea Gilman was approved as Wellness Coach at Gilbert Middle School. Hazel Gillman was approved for the Child Nutrition Program at Lenore PK-8. Robert Hammond was approved as Softball Coach at Burch PK-8 and Wrestling Coach at MCHS. Ralph May Jr. was approved for the Child Nutrition Program at Lenore PK-8. Jonny Murphy was approved as Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Gilbert Middle. Summer Pruitt was approved for the Child Nutrition Program at Lenore PK-8. Shawn Ward was approved as Assistant Soccer Coach at Gilbert Middle.

Resignations from extracurricular assignments were approved for two individuals. Robert May’s resignation as Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at TVHS was approved. Kimberly Morgan’s resignation as Title I Interventionist at Williamson PK-8 was also approved at Tuesday’s meeting.

Four service personnel were approved for new employment into existing positions. Teddy Curry was approved as Substitute Custodian for Mingo County Schools. Jackie Hundley was approved as Substitute Mechanic at Mingo County Schools. James King was approved as Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic/General Maintenance for Mingo County Schools. Cynthia Mahon was approved for Aide/Autism Mentor during a leave of absence at Gilbert Elementary School.

Three were approved to transfer into existing positions. Carolyn Baize was approved to transfer to an Aide/ Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher at Lenore PK-8. Kathy Starr was approved to transfer to an Aide/ Autism Mentor position at MCHS. Dianna Bragg was approved to transfer to a Cook II position at Gilbert Elementary School.

Two were approved for reclassification. Wendy Barker was approved to be reclassified as Aide II/ Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher II. Donna Estepp was approved to be reclassified as an Aide II/Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher II.

A retirement was approved for John Criddle. Criddle retired from his position as Aide/Autism Mentor at MCHS.

Three requests were approved for leaves of absence. These include Kevin Salmons, Debra Sheppard and Mark Miller.
