STONE, Ky. – For the first time since the Pond Creek Reunion began in 1964 the initial kickoff will be held at Stone, Ky.
Previously, the opening night was held in the May Lodge at Jenny Wiley State Park in Prestonsburg, Ky. Unfortunately due to a fire at the lodge in March of this year the facilities will not be renovated in time.
Committee member Peggy King said she hopes that doesn’t deter people from coming.
The original meeting to form a committee was started at the residence of Bertha Vance. Vance invited people that worked for Ford to a meeting in her home to discuss an annual get together for Ford employees and their families. The reunion was held for Ford families only from 1923-1936.
Over the years the reunion has evolved to include the entire Pond Creek community, anyone who has ever lived, worked or had family there.
This year’s reunion will be held October 14 and 15.
