The bridge on KY 1056 which spans Blackberry Creek at Ail Branch, mile point 8.615, will closed for repairs at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, and will remain closed to all traffic until Monday, October 10.
Shane Allen, Bridge Engineer for Highway District 12, said there is a hole in the bridge deck, full depth, along the centerline, approximately four feet in diameter that is surrounded by extensive cracking.
An area of the deck approximately 8 feet by 16 feet will be replaced.
The hole is currently covered by a steel plate until repairs can be made.
Allen explained that the dates of the work coincide with Fall Break in the Pike County School System.
“We scheduled the work for this time so that it would not interfere with school traffic,” he explained.
“It is critical that these repairs be made before winter weather sets in, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of the residents of this area during the temporary inconvenience.”
