Williamson Daily News has selected Delbarton Police Chief Earl Spence as September “Officer of the Month”. Earl’s law enforcement career has spanned over an impressive 46 years. He started his career as Delbarton’s Police Chief in 1973, after being hired by then Mayor Paul Sizemore. He served as Police Chief until 1981 when he was elected Mayor of Delbarton, the position he held until 1983. In 1985 Earl was again elected as Police Chief of the town and served in that compacity until 1994, at which time he retired. In October 2014 Earl was asked by current Mayor John Preece if he would be interested in the position of Police Chief again, of course Earl accepted the offer. Earl Spence is a lifelong resident of Delbarton except for the two years he served his country in the US Army. As of this past January Earl has been married to his wife Virginia for 50 years. They have two children, Marian (Timmy) Layne and Jimmy Spence both of Delbarton. He is a proud grandfather of five grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, Carrigan, Garrett and Madison.
