PIKE COUNTY – July 24, 2015 – Beginning this evening at 5 o’clock – Friday, July 24 – KY 3419, Smith Fork at Phelps, will be closed to all traffic about 1.2 miles from KY 632. The road will remain closed until about 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 26.
According to Highway District 12’s Maintenance Superintendent Stevie Slone, the reason the road must be closed is for replacement of a concrete culvert. D-12’s Phelps maintenance specialists will do the work, assisted by the district’s equipment rental contractor, Bob White Construction of Prestonsburg.
“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience,” Slone said. “The drainage through this part of Smith Fork Road will be much improved once this old culvert is replaced. We know that people understand and we want to thank everyone for their patience.”
