TURKEY CREEK, Ky. – A structure fire at Turkey Creek, Ky. on Wednesday afternoon required the joint efforts of four local fire departments.

Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department (TCVFD) was dispatched to a call at 716 Caney Fork for a structure fire at the residence of Tolbert McCoy.

Due to the location of the residence and the need to shuttle water, TCVFD requested mutual aid from surrounding departments.

Although McCoy’s son was home at the time of the fire, he was able to escape without injuries.

The fire appears to be electrical, however, the incident remains under investigation.

Belfry and Hatfield Volunteer Fire Departments each assisted with two trucks, Upper Pond Creek Volunteer Fire Department assisted with one truck and approximately 30 firefighters between the four departments responded to the scene.

The departments remained on scene for three hours.
