WILLIAMSON- At Thursday’s meeting of the Williamson Utility Board (WUB) board members voted in favor of establishing credit card processing for WUB customers.
Williamson Mayor and Chairman of the WUB, Robert Carlton was absent from the meeting. In his absence, the meeting was conducted by board member Lacy Muncy after he was selected Chairman Pro Tem.
The new service will provide WUB customers with the option to pay bills using debit or credit cards. To provide this service, the WUB will be required to pay $50 monthly. Muncy explained this during the New Business portion of the meeting. “Lil and I looked over several. We have one that is for the WUB to take debit cards and credit cards. We would like to try it. It will cost $50 a month for a 90 day trial. That way, a lot of people can pay their bills with debit cards or with credit cards,” Muncy stated.
Board member Butch Beckett stated. “I think it is a good idea.” Beckett then moved to make the motion allowing the WUB to begin accepting debit and credit card transactions. The move was seconded by board member Gaye Dotson and was approved.
