Several fireworks shows are planned for the area on the 4th of July holiday weekend.
Chief Rexel Nee Jackson II says the Belfry Fire Department will have its fireworks show Saturday, July 2nd at 10:05pm. “This will be our 35th year shooting Thunder in The Valley,” Jackson said.
This is always a popular event, with cars lined up along U.S. 119 and in the parking lot on the hill at the South Side Mall.
This is one of the most popular fireworks shows in the Tug Valley.
A big free 4th of July weekend bash will be held on Saturday, July 2 at the new renovated facilities at the Williamson Softball Park. There will be free hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and watermelon. Park Board Director Brandon Ball said there will also be a corn-hole tournament, beach volleyball and basketball games going on during that daytime event. It starts at 11 a.m. and will run until around 3 p.m.
The town of Gilbert will have a fireworks show on Saturday, July 2, at 10 p.m. in downtown near the Harless Center. Mayor Vivian Livingood encourages everyone in the Gilbert area to go out and enjoy the fireworks.
For the 20th consecutive year, Delbarton will have fireworks in its town around 9:45 p.m. on the 4th of July, according to longtime Mayor John Preece.
“We will also have hotdogs, cake and watermelon starting and 6 p.m.,” Preece added. “There will be other activities as well and everyone is invited.”
The Town of Kermit will be having their annual fireworks on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at dark. Watermelon and popsicles will be provided free of charge. Everyone bring your blankets and lawn chairs and witness one of the best 4th of July fireworks shows around.
The city of Logan will shoot their fireworks on July 4th at 9:30 p.m. Mayor Serafino Nolletti said, “The fireworks will be shot from the water tanks and this should be a good venue for everyone to enjoy the show.”
The town of Inez, Ky. in Martin County will hold a 4th of July parade 6:30 p.m., and then have live music starting at 7 p.m. The Inez Fire Department will have a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. and there will also be games, contests and lemonade.
