Two shot dead in Pike County

ISLAND CREEK, Ky. – A shooting early Monday morning at Island Creek in Pike County has left two men dead, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

A homeowner in the Sleepy Hollow community observed two men exiting a building on his property with items which belonged to the homeowner in their possession. The homeowner fired upon both suspects mortally wounding both.

According to a press release from Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 9 in Pikeville, Ky. John Rowe, 41 of Pikeville, Ky. and Tommy Elswick, 38 of Robinson Creek were pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting by Pike County Deputy Coroner Zeb Hampton.

The incident is under investigation by KSP Detective Jason Merlo.
