SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. – Kentucky State Police (KSP), Pikeville Post, is investigating a fatal collision that occurred during the afternoon hours on Friday, June 17, 2016.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Freeda Taylor, 87 years old of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, attempted to enter U.S, 119 from Ky. State Route 292 in the South Williamson community of Pike County. Taylor entered onto U.S. 119 in the path of an oncoming vehicle traveling South on U.S. 119. Taylor was transported from the scene by EMS to Williamson Memorial Hospital (WMH).

Taylor suffered fatal injuries in the collision, and was pronounced deceased at WMH.

Evidence at the scene indicates Taylor was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision, according to the press release issued by the KSP.

The Williamson Fire Department was also on the scene and had to extricate the victim from her vehicle.

The collision is under investigation by Post 09 Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper Jonathan Dixon.
